Now that we’re into September, we want to make sure everyone is up-to-date on what has been happening – and is about to happen – on the Save Bonnerworth Park front.
Draft Park Plan and Technical Studies
- In August, the Coalition provided comments on the Draft Park Concept and technical studies released to the public within the short turnaround time provided.
- Shared in our last Newsblast, this document describes our many serious concerns with the city’s latest plan (Park concept and the coalition’s comments are attached).
- Our comments were also sent to The Mayor and Council, Senior Administrators, Recreation Department staff, and local media.
- We hope you posted your own feedback on the PtboConnect website.
Upcoming Newspaper Ad
- Look for a full-page ad from the Coalition in the digital edition of the Examiner this coming Saturday, Sept. 7.
- The ad will also invite all Peterborough to attend our “One More Rally” described below.
One More Rally at City Hall: Monday, Sept. 16 at 5:30 pm
- Join the many Peterborough citizens who oppose this project by attending our biggest and most important rally yet.
- This is our last opportunity, before shovels could go in the ground, to show the city how we feel about how its decision to build 14 pickleball courts and a parking lot at Bonnerworth Park.
- Your attendance is absolutely KEY to maintaining public pressure. NUMBERS COUNT!
- Bring your families, friends, neighbours, and lawn signs (other signs will be provided).
- We’re also inviting several guests to speak and musicians to play so it should be a lively event
Legal Action
- Over the summer, several members of the Coalition have been engaged in serious discussions with our lawyer and potential supporters regarding legal action that could see the project stopped.
- Legal action will be expensive, so stay tuned for details on our fundraising campaign
